Hello dear Host Family,
My name is Yina I am 26 years old and I live in Medellín Colombia. For the past three years, I have worked as a barista in a specialty coffee company, a job that I truly enjoy because it has helped me develop responsibility, organization, and kindness when interacting with others.I consider myself a patient, responsible, caring, and creative person. I am organized, adaptable, and calm in different situations. I believe these qualities are very important when caring for children.
I lived with my parents until I was 11 years old and later with my grandmother, aunt, and cousins until I turned 18. They played an important role in my upbringing and taught me the values of family, respect, and living together harmoniously.I grew up in a small town near Medellín and later moved to the city in search of better opportunities. Since my aunt moved abroad, I have been living independently, which has helped me become more mature, responsible, and self-reliant.
I studied Database Management, although I did not work professionally in this field. I have always wanted to continue learning and growing personally and professionally. Becoming an Au Pair has been a dream of mine for many years, and I finally decided to pursue this experience. To prepare myself, I completed courses in pedagogy and child psychology focused on childhood development. I also completed a first aid course for early childhood to be better prepared to care for children.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, especially novels and personal development books. I also like skating, walking, listening to music, and spending time with friends and family.I regularly care for my three-year-old niece on weekends. Together we draw, read stories, do crafts, play outdoors, and enjoy creative activities that encourage her imagination and learning.
My childcare experience comes mainly from caring for family members and children of close friends. I cared for two cousins who were 5 and 7 years old, helping with their daily routines, meals, and activities. I have also occasionally cared for two children aged 6 and 10, helping with games, homework, meals, and daily supervision. These experiences have taught me patience, empathy, responsibility, and how to care for children of different ages in a loving and safe way.
My motivation to become an Au Pair comes from my love for children and my desire to support a host family while experiencing a meaningful cultural exchange. I would love to help with childcare, share part of my culture, learn about yours, and improve my English.
My native language is Spanish, and I currently have an A1 level of English. I continue studying every day because I believe communication is essential for living harmoniously with a host family. As an Au Pair, I hope to become part of a caring and respectful family where trust, communication, and cultural exchange are valued. I would like to contribute positively to the children’s lives while growing personally and culturally.
I believe this experience will help me become more independent, mature, and responsible. After completing my Au Pair journey, I plan to return to Colombia and continue building my future. Since I am open to different cultures and lifestyles, I have not yet decided on a destination country.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I look forward to meeting you and learning more about your family.
