Dear Host Family,
My name is Gelilian, I’m 22 years old, a native English speaker and I come from Uganda. I’m writing this letter with a warm heart and genuine excitement to express my interest in becoming your au pair.
I know that many host families usually look for au pairs from Europe, but I would be truly grateful if you gave me the chance to be part of your family as an Ugandan. I believe what makes an au pair special is not where she comes from whether EU or non-EU but the heart, love, energy, joy, and kindness she brings into a home. That’s what I would love to share with your family.
I genuinely love children. Their little laughs, their curiosity, the way they learn and express themselves it’s all so pure and beautiful to me. I find it easy to connect with them because I see every child as someone who deserves patience, love, and to feel understood.
My experience with children started when I was very young. I remember being only seven years old when I was left to take care of my baby cousin who suddenly fell sick. I fed him, bathed him, changed his clothes and diapers, and when his temperature rose, I took him to the hospital myself. I was crying while explaining what had happened, and the doctors praised me for being such a caring and wise little girl. Since then, my parents and relatives have always trusted me with their children.
I’ve continued babysitting and spending time with my younger siblings and cousins. I enjoy helping them with homework, preparing their meals, and playing fun games. One time, when my little brother threw a tantrum in public because I couldn’t afford a toy, I knelt down, talked to him calmly, and helped him understand that good boys listen and respect others. I later started rewarding him whenever he behaved well and it made such a big difference. Moments like that have taught me patience and the power of gentle love.
Becoming an au pair means much more to me than just traveling abroad. It’s about connection learning your culture and language, being part of your family, and sharing beautiful and meaningful relationships. I would love share more about myself, hear more about you and be honored to bring warmth, laughter, and care into your home, and to treat your children with the same love and gentleness I show to those in my own family. I am also willing and able to obtain a visa on my own.
Thank you so much for reading my letter. I hope you’ll give me the chance to share my heart, energy, and love with your family and to create happy memories together. I hope to hear from you soon.
With warm regards,
Gelilian
