Hello! 👋
My name is Mavis, and thank you very much for taking the time to read my letter. I am genuinely excited about the possibility of becoming part of your family as an Au Pair.
I come from a large and close-knit family, so being around children has always been a very natural part of my life. I have five siblings, and growing up in such a lively household taught me patience, responsibility, communication, and how to care for others from a young age. I was the primary caregiver for two of my younger siblings for a long period while they were younger, and I still often help care for my younger cousins during family gatherings and visits.
Over the years, I have also gained childcare experience outside my family. During my secondary school years, I volunteered at a crèche near my school, where I helped care for babies and toddlers after classes. I enjoyed spending time with the children, helping the workers, keeping the children entertained, and assisting with daily care routines. I also have professional experience from previous nanny and childcare jobs, caring for children of different ages, including infants and toddlers. Altogether, I have over five years of childcare experience outside my family environment.
I am comfortable with daily childcare responsibilities such as changing diapers, preparing feeding bottles, bathing toddlers, supervising children during playtime or swimming, helping with homework, and creating fun and educational activities. I try to create a calm, safe, and supportive environment for children while also being patient and attentive to their individual personalities and needs.
At the moment, I am studying Health Science at an American-accredited online institution. My interest in healthcare and caregiving is one of the reasons I feel naturally drawn toward childcare and family support roles. I have also completed training in childcare, First Aid, Early Childhood Development, and CNA training, all of which helped strengthen my practical caregiving skills and sense of responsibility.
Outside of work and studies, I enjoy reading novels, cooking and trying recipes from different cultures, cycling, drawing, arts and crafts, beadwork, swimming, music, and learning new things. I especially enjoy activities that allow me to be creative or spend quality time with children. I am also happy to help around the house with tidying, meal preparation, grocery shopping, or light household chores.
One of the biggest reasons I want to become an Au Pair is because I truly want to experience a new culture and way of life while becoming part of a family environment abroad. I enjoy learning languages and experiencing different cultures, and I believe living with a host family is one of the most meaningful ways to do that.
If my family and friends were to describe me, they would probably say I am calm, reliable, observant, respectful, and easy to get along with. I can be a little reserved at first, but I warm up naturally over time. I take my responsibilities seriously, I do not smoke or drink, and I always try to contribute positively to the people and environments around me.
I hope to become not only a helpful support for your family, but also someone your children can feel comfortable with and trust, like an older sibling figure in their daily lives. I would truly appreciate the opportunity to learn from your family, share my own culture with you, and create meaningful memories together.
Thank you once again for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you and hopefully getting to know your family better. ✨️🌼
Warm regards,
Mavis
