Hello! I hope you and your family are doing well.

My name is Hermina, but everyone calls me Mina. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. Even if you are currently looking for someone who can start immediately, I would still love to introduce myself in case you are searching for an au pair next year. I hope we can stay connected!

I am currently working as a mathematics teacher in Indonesia, where I teach children from 3 to 15 years old. Teaching has always been more than just a job for me. I enjoy getting to know each child, understanding how they learn, and helping them build confidence while making learning fun and enjoyable. Every child is different, and I believe they all deserve patience, encouragement, and someone who believes in them.

Working with children has been a big part of my life. Before becoming a teacher, I spent six months as a shadow teacher supporting a child with special needs. That experience taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of creating a safe and positive environment where children can grow at their own pace.

My childcare experience also comes from my own family. During high school, I lived in a dormitory together with my younger cousin because we were far from our parents. I helped him prepare for school, washed clothes, made sure he had everything he needed, and looked after him like an older sister. During school holidays, I also enjoyed spending time with my younger cousins. We played together, cooked simple meals, and created happy memories. Since I grew up on a small island in the Philippines, I also love introducing my family to foods they have never tried before. One of their favorites is Indonesian bakwan, which I enjoy making for them.

One of the biggest reasons I want to become an au pair is my desire to learn and grow. Growing up on a small island taught me to appreciate simple things, but it also gave me a dream of seeing more of the world. Living in Indonesia has already been an incredible experience, but I hope to continue exploring different cultures, learning new languages, and meeting people from different backgrounds.

For me, becoming an au pair is much more than traveling. It is an opportunity to become part of a family’s daily life, support children as they grow, and learn from each other through cultural exchange. I believe every new experience will help me become a better teacher, a more understanding person, and someone who can one day bring those experiences back to my own community.

As your au pair, I will always do my best to create a warm, caring, and positive environment for your children. I can help with childcare, keep play areas tidy, prepare simple meals, assist with homework, and help with light household tasks related to the children. I also enjoy cooking and would be happy to share Indonesian and Filipino dishes with your family while learning how to cook your favorite meals as well.

I would describe myself as patient, responsible, cheerful, and eager to learn. I know that becoming an au pair means becoming someone your family can trust, and I take that responsibility seriously. My goal is not only to help your family but also to build meaningful relationships and create wonderful memories together.
